Measuring e-waste is an important step towards addressing the e-waste challenge since statistics help to evaluate developments over time, set and assess targets, and identify best practices for policies. E-waste data helps to improve comparability between countries and it is therefore highly desirable to have a sound measurement framework that can serve as the basis for e-waste statistics and e-waste indicators. 

The objective of this session is to bring attention to the importance of monitoring and measuring e-waste, including the internationally harmonized approach used by the Global E-waste Statistics Partnership (GESP). Panelists will share lessons learned from projects and experiences when measuring e-waste at the national level. 

This event is organised by the International Telecommunication Union in partnership with UNEP.
