Fossil fuel subsidy reform (FFSR) can not only support transitions to clean energy, but also help make these transitions just and inclusive. This online event, presented by the Government of Denmark, the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the International Institute for Sustainable Development Global Subsidies Initiative (IISD-GSI), in the context of the Global Commission on People-Centred Clean Energy Transitions, will outline how FFSR can contribute to clean energy transitions. The event will specifically focus on practical examples of how to conduct FFSR in a way that supports people by taking into account issues such as gender, health, local community considerations, and broader social impacts. The panel will further focus on ways to approach people-centred clean energy transitions and how to seize opportunities and overcome barriers and challenges related to the issues identified.
