International Day of Clean Air for blue skies enters its second year in 2021 and the need for clean air remains as important as ever. Nine out of ten people across the world are currently breathing polluted air, so the importance of the day has never been greater. We all breathe the same air and we have one atmosphere that needs our protection.

International Day of Clean Air for blue skies, was designated 7 September by the United Nations General Assembly in 2019, and the first Day was held last year. This follows the international community’s increasing interest in clean air and emphasises the need to make further efforts to improve air quality to protect human health.

Join this year’s celebrations and engage in a high-level dialogue among experts, government representatives, and other stakeholders on policy and actions to tackle air pollution.
