Global NIP Update: What is National Implementation Plan? – Part 2

18 MAY 2023

On 18 May 2023 (15:00-16:30 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) will host a webinar to introduce stakeholders to the basics of national implementation plans (NIPs) under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).

The webinar is part of a series of training activities to be held by the GGKP within the framework of Component 4 of the Global Environment Facility's Global NIP Update Project. As a part of knowledge-sharing activities, the webinar provides parties with the opportunity to explore the structure of NIPs and its chapters, interlinkages with national reporting, and use of an integrated electronic toolkit to support NIP data organization, submission and use.

Webinar objectives

  • To increase participants’ understanding of the structure of NIP and the scope/types of information to be reflected in its chapters, as well as of the interlinkages with the national reporting
  • To strengthen the capacity of participants to transmit their NIPs through an integrated electronic toolkit

Target audience

  • Stockholm Convention Official Contact Points and National Focal Points, particularly from project countries
  • National officials and experts involved in the process of reviewing and updating the NIPs
  • Members of NIP National Coordinating Mechanism/Committees and Project Coordination Units/Thematic Task Groups
  • Representatives of regional centres and relevant stakeholders
