Cutting the Crap on Climate Finance Access: A Commitment to the Global South

23 SEP 2021

You’ve heard the refrain: Finance will make or break the COP.

The issue of raising $100bn in climate finance for the Global South – and the challenges of accessing it – has been diagnosed to death. The problem is well understood: developed countries have not been ambitious enough in their pledges of support, and the system of accessing existing finance is obstructively complex. Developing countries very often know what they need to do to improve their resilience, increase adaptation efforts, and meet their NDC commitments. Mutual frustration comes from the lack of capacity and support to deliver on those goals. Without clear, access-oriented solutions in place, neither COP26 nor the action that follows can be a success.

Join the Climate Finance Access Network, coordinated by RMI, for a session that aims to cut through to the heart of necessary solutions, as identified by those on the front lines of climate change.
