Ana Gabriela Fernandez Vergara Created an Event 2 years ago Consultation in Latin America and the Caribbean: nature-positive trade for sustainable agricultural supply chains/ Consulta para Latinoamérica y el Caribe: un comercio responsable para una agricultura sostenible 27 MAR 2023 - 28 MAR 2023 Sao Paulo Register United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP) Regional Stakeholders Consultation in Latin America and the Caribbean: Nature-positive trade for sustainable agricultural supply chains In a joint collaboration between UN Environment Programme and the International Trade Centre, the Consultation in Latin America will gather a diversity of stakeholders who will discuss and explore priorities, challenges and opportunities in the region, and provide recommendations for impact-driven and actionable solutions to move towards a sustainable, fair and inclusive nature-positive trade that supports countries to: i) achieve sustainable and resilient agricultural supply chains; ii) facilitate market access to all stakeholders and comply with regulations committed to decoupling agri-commodities from deforestation, e.g. EU deforestation-free regulation; iii) advance national plans for sustainable socio-economic development. The Consultation will take place on 27-28 March 2023 with in-person participation in Sao Paulo, Brazil* and online, and will convene stakeholders from: The consultation will gather stakeholders from: Government entities leading agendas at the trade and environment nexus, focused on agriculture, land management and forestry, biodiversity, finance, economy, industry, and related areas. Policymakers active in the trade and environment fora. Private sector: smallholders, trading cooperatives, MSMEs, multinational companies, industry associations and relevant stakeholders involved in supply chains of agricultural commodities. Non-governmental organizations and civil society. Academic and research institutions. Financial institutions. Consulta para Latinoamérica y el Caribe: Un comercio responsable para una agricultura sostenible En una colaboración entre el Programa de Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente y el Centro de Comercio Internacional, la Consulta Regional para Latinoamérica y el Caribe se centrara en conversar las prioridades, desafíos y oportunidades en la región, así como identificar soluciones para promover un comercio responsable que apoye a los países productores y exportadores a lograr: i) cadenas de suministro agrícolas sostenibles y resilientes; ii) acceso a mercados internacionales para todos los actores, alineado a las normativas que buscan frenar la deforestación vinculada con productos agrícolas, e.g. regulación de la Unión Europea, acuerdos internacionales como el Marco mundial Kunming-Montreal de la diversidad biológica; y, iii) avanzar planes nacionales de desarrollo social y económico sostenible. La Consulta Regional tendrá lugar el 27 y 28 de marzo de 2023 en Sao Paulo, Brasil* y también en línea, y durante el evento habrá traducción disponible en español, portugués e inglés.
