On 28 February (11:30-13:00 CET), the Geneva Environment Network hosts a briefing of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) resolution on environmental aspects of minerals and metals management in the International Environment House in Geneva, Switzerland, and online. 

In resolution 5/12, the UNEA encouraged member states and relevant stakeholders from the public and private sector to align mining practices and their investments in mining with the 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Agenda and obligations under other multilateral environmental agreements. The UNEA also requested UNEP's Executive Director to convene transparent and inclusive intergovernmental regional consultations. Ahead of the regional consultations, this event will provide an update on the implementation plan for UNEA's resolution 5/12 on Environmental Aspects of Minerals and Metals Management and stakeholders' mobilization in the process.
