Pacific Youth Summit 2022: youth leaders, students, and young professionals convene to address regional disaster risk reduction efforts and the global climate emergency

As a young person studying and now working on environmental issues, I always found being a part of a broader climate community absolutely necessary. It can be very easy otherwise to give in to climate anxiety and frustration over the continued inaction of most of most governments.

For this reason, I am happy to see that over 1,000 Pacific youth gathered at the Pacific Youth Summit 2022. Being together and engaging on these topics is empowering and give a strong sense of purpose. I hope that Pacific leaders - and leaders around the globe - will listen to their youth and bring their voice clear and loud at COP27 in a couple of weeks.
