The information includes climate facts, forecasts and tips. Facts are what have already happened. Forecasts are what will happen if we keep doing business as usual. Tips are what we can do to deal with the climate crisis. The following messages are some examples. Today's climate fact is: “Global average temperatures have increased 1.1°C in the last few hundred years”. Today's climate fact is: “The average global sea level rose by 20 centimeters between 1901 and 2018”. Today's climate fact is: “Current extinction rates are 1,000 times higher than the natural rates of extinction”. Today's climate forecast is: “Earth’s average temperature will increase to roughly 4.5°C above the pre-industrial levels by 2100”. Today's climate forecast is: “Future extinction rates are likely to be 10,000 times higher than the natural rates of extinction”. Today's climate forecast is: “Most of the world’s population will struggle for access to water by 2050”. Today's climate tip is: “Less consumption, less destruction”. Today's climate tip is: “More vegans, more virtue”. Today's climate tip is: “Less cars, less carbon dioxide”. Et cetera. I suggest adding one of the climate messages to the beginning of any weather forecast. When the message is being broadcasted, some websites such as 'climatescience.org' should be shown on the screen in case the audience want to learn more about climate change. *This idea was inspired by Clara Mottura who told me that people's inaction on climate change was due to their climate unconsciousness and disengagement. I hope broadcasting the climate information through weather forecasts will raise the public awareness of climate crisis and encourage people to take action on the global warming.
