Result of ServiceThe ultimate result of the consultancy is to strengthen and enrich community engagement on the Green Forum, leading to increased capacity for a green economy transition. Expected duration1 March – 30 September 2021 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.The Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is hosted by UNEP, in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). These organizations serve as the joint host of the GGKP Secretariat on behalf of the GGKP founding organizations (UNEP, GGGI, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and the World Bank). The GGKP is a global network of over 75 international organizations, research institutes, and think tanks focused on promoting a green economy transition by:identifying major knowledge gaps in green growth theory and practice and addressing these gaps through the promotion of collaboration and coordinated research; andusing world-class knowledge management and communication tools to provide practitioners, policymakers, and other experts with opportunities to access, share, and utilize green growth policy analysis, guidance, information, and data.The Community Engagement consultant is sought to fill the need of the Resources and Markets Branch to assist with GGKP’s soon to be launched online interactive community the Green Forum. The Forum is a space for professionals to share and discuss insights in the pursuit of a sustainable economic transition. This post will support the management of discussions on global topics, provide content to the Forum, strengthen and enrich community engagement on the Green Forum. Specific tasks and responsibilitiesThe specific tasks and responsibilities of this consultancy are indicated below. Any content published on GGKP-administered Green Forum shall be under the oversight of, and endorsed by, Mr. Benjamin Simmons.Identify users and stakeholder interest within the field of green economy and recommend the key relevant information feeds for various discussions and groups related to a sustainable economic transition.Monitor and contribute to discussions in the Green Forum on a wide range of themes and sectors, including climate change, agriculture, energy, forestry, transportation, waste management, water and sanitation, circular economy, and natural capital. This could include, for instance, highlighting or synthesising key findings, recommendations, or case studies featured in new publications or recent webinars.Share and post important and relevant links to events, opportunities, and knowledge on a sustainable economic transition.Provide support to foster an inclusive and engaging Green Forum community to increase the number of users and encourage retention.Provide support on tracking and reporting of community engagement efforts on the Green Forum.Prepare a monthly editorial digest from a selection of trending discussions on the Green Forum.Support other related tasks, as requested. Qualifications/special skillsAcademic Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent in communications, business, public policy, environmental studies, international development, or a closely related area. A Bachelor’s degree plus at least four additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree.Experience:A minimum of three years of accumulated work experience closely relevant to the outlined outputs/tasks, including experience working on climate and environment issues, is required.Excellent written and oral communications skills in English is required.Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, is required.Experience in community engagement or social media relevant to green growth is preferred.Experience working in developing countries is preferred.Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
