The UCD Forestry group consists of 5 academic staff members and a number of post-doctoral fellows that are active in teaching, research and innovation. The Group are responsible for delivering the BAgrSc in Forestry and also teach into other undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Applicants must have a university undergraduate degree in Forestry, and a PhD in Forestry or a related area. The appointee will have research expertise in forest economics and/or forest management. He/she will be committed to further developing this expertise through academic research and engagement with industry partners, and to sharing this expertise through teaching undergraduate and graduate students. He/she will also be committed to developing the Forestry discipline in the School, University and wider community. The successful applicant will coordinate and deliver a number of academic modules either in full or in partnership with other staff members, focusing on the Forestry undergraduate and graduate degree programmes including modules on forest management, forest economics, and Geographic Information Systems. The successful applicant will also conduct research that is relevant to the forestry sector in Ireland, that is of international standing and that is appropriate to the objectives of the Section, School and University. The successful candidate will be offered a temporary (3 year) or permanent position based on their experience and trajectory as determined by the interview Board.
