Work Location Paris, France Expected duration 01 May 2022– 31 October 2022 (6 months) Duties and Responsibilities A consultant is sought to fill the need of the Resources and Markets Branch to assist with the implementation of the GEF-funded Aligning the financial system with sustainable development project. This position will provide capacity building support to the implementation of sustainable finance roadmaps and will assist in the implementation of the communication strategy, including the digitalization of a tool to develop country status report on sustainable finance. Specific tasks and responsibilities Support the development of the GEF Aligning Finance Policies project, help in the implementation of policy recommendations in the regulatory landscape of Nigeria (sustainable banking) and Mongolia (ESG disclosure requirements for listed companies). Monitor the implementation of policy recommendations of the other roadmaps (China, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico) and support capacity building as per their roadmaps. Support the project engagement of the six countries in terms of cooperation and coordination with international networks and global events as per the communication strategy. Advice on the development of systematic and coherent approaches to sustainable finance polices building on the work of the six countries. Support the development of the Green Finance Measures Database, including research, drafting and outreach related work. Support the digitalization of the Sustainable Finance Diagnostic Toolkit. Assisting in other operational tasks as necessary. Qualifications/special skills Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in sustainable development, finance, business administration or a closely related area. A Bachelor’s degree plus at least two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree. Experience: A minimum of three years of accumulated work experience closely relevant to the outlined outputs/tasks and that includes experience with sustainable finance, policy research and technical assistance to developing countries. Prior experience with international organisations and data analysis is desirable. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
