The latest IPCC report warns that the time for action is now, there must be "rapid, deep and immediate" cuts in CO2 emissions. The IPCC Chair said that the decisions we make now can secure a liveable future.
The message in this latest blog post couldn't be more timely - it can be done - as the blog author, Nawal Amjad, puts it there's a 'flicker of hope'. BUT we’d better re-approach and realign now and drop the 'exceptionalist' approach!

David Kaimowitz, Senior Forestry Officer at FAO stated that “We cannot protect forests without Indigenous Peoples. We know that forests do better when indigenous land rights are respected, with lower deforestation rates and carbon emissions. Without them, we cannot win the race to save the planet.”

On this recent blog post, Najib Saab elaborates on the 'polluter pays' principle and how this issue was raised at the Stockholm Conference 50 years ago.
Who do you think should be deemed responsible to compensate for pollution? But it doesn't seem to be that simple, how can we define who needs to pay whom or for what? Does this principle give a 'licence to pollute' as long as one can pay?
